Program Learning Outcomes

The Doctor of Ministry in Christian Studies program at East Pacific University prepares students to become effective leaders in the field of Christian ministry. The program covers topics such as advanced Christian Studies and ministry, biblical theology, leadership, and ministry skills such as preaching, education, and administration. Upon graduation, students will be equipped to apply their knowledge to real-world ministry problems and will have the leadership and organizational communication skills necessary to set up successful Christian ministry organizations.

Degree Requirements

The Doctor of Ministry in Christian Studies program requires 25 semester hours of coursework, including 20 hours of prescribed and elective courses, and 6 hours of independent study courses. Students must also complete a 3-hour applied research project related to their ministry. The program typically takes three years to complete. The prescribed courses cover topics such as the Genesis Genealogies, the Lamp of the Covenant, and the Ten Bestowals and the Beatitude. Elective courses include Ancient Near Eastern Studies 1 and 2, Theology of the Gospel, and The Theory and Practice of Biblical Theology. The program also includes core courses such as God’s Calling, Gifts, Talents, Skills, and Leadership, Sufficiency of the Word of God, Skills for Deeper Ministry, Toward Global Ministry, Research Methodology/Dissertation Writing, and two D.Min. Project courses. Through these courses, students will gain an advanced understanding of Christian Studies and ministry, learn to apply biblical theology to various ministry settings, and develop competencies for a theologically reflective practice of ministry.
